Drug Dependence

What is it

A drug is a substance, other than food, which is taken to change the way the body and/or mind functions. Whilst some people use drugs (both licit and illicit) safely and responsibly, there can be the risk of drug use being harmful.
Harmful drug use is use of a substance leading to impairment and/or distress across social, interpersonal, legal, health or vocational areas of the person’s life.
